Head Coach

Andrew Brown begins his second season after posting a very successful 18-11 overall record and a 13-9 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference in his first season as head coach at Northwestern. He led the Rangers to a tie for fifth place in the SAC last season, coached an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, an NAIA Academic All-American and five SAC All-Conference selections.

Brown was a full-time assistant for three seasons, helping Northwestern to a 57-39 record and making it to the NAIA National Championship "Elite Eight" during the 2006-07 season, a feat no other Ranger team has met.

Brown is a familiar face to Northwestern where he filled the role of student assistant coach from 1995-1999. During that time, he helped the menís program to two 20-win seasons and a berth to the 1999 NAIA National Tournament.

Before his second stint at Northwestern, Brown served as the head womenís coach at Fort Scott (Kan.) Community College. During his tenure, he led the Greyhounds to a 29-32 overall record and to a 19-17 Jayhawk conference mark. His team turned in an impressive 3.21 overall grade point average.

Before taking over the program at Fort Scott, Brown was an assistant coach for two years at conference foe University of Science and Arts. At USAO, he was in charge of recruiting and helped with numerous other aspects of the Drover program.

Prior to USAO, Brown served as the assistant coach of the menís and womenís program at Otero (Colo.) Junior College. Both teams won the conference championship with the women going 27-5 and the men ending with a 21-9 record.

Brown resides in Alva with his wife Cathy and daughters Melody (9), Sarah (2) and Meghan (2 months).

Shane HansenShane Hansen
Assistant Coach

Shane Hansen begins his first year as Northwestern Oklahoma State Universityís assistant men's basketball coach, a team in which he was a standout for from 2004-08.

Hansen turns to the coaching ranks after playing for the Rangers the past four seasons as a starter on the Ranger basketball team. The Calumet native, ranks tenth on Northwesternís all-time scoring list with 1,149 points and has 217 career three pointers, just two shy of the school record.

During his senior season, Hanson was given the Sooner Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award. He was twice selected to the honorable mention all-conference squad and was an academic all-conference member during both his junior and senior seasons.

Hansen graduated in May of 2008 with a bachelorís degree in health and sports science education and is currently pursuing a masterís in education. He resides in Alva with his wife Kaylynn.
