Welcome to the new financial aid loan
application process! The financial aid office is excited to
provide
you with this service. We continually strive to improve the
financial aid process for our students and
believe the online application is a great and convenient way
to apply for your Stafford loan.
Applying for Your Federal Stafford Loan Online
This
student loan information page is intended for Northwestern
students who have:
1.
Filed the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), and
2.
Received a Financial Aid Award Letter from the
Northwestern Financial Aid Office with instructions to visit this page.
3. Received notification from OGSLP (Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program) verifying
that your Stafford loan has been certified.
4.
Completed Loan Entrance Counseling.
*****If you choose to reduce your Stafford Loan, you will need to notify the Financial Aid Office. If you choose to cancel your Stafford Loan, circle “decline” on your Financial Aid Award Letter or notify the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.
You are now ready to complete your on-line loan application as follows:

Select "Apply Online" button below; if you are a first time user you must create a new
account OpenNet.
●
After selecting the “create new
account” link, the next page displays the OpenNet Terms of Service. You must click “I
Accept” to proceed.
●
Select “Begin On-Line Loan App” then click on “Complete
Existing Application”.
●
Select “Start the Application
Process.”
●
Next select New Federal Stafford MPN Application.
●
Your MPN will have some information already entered. Please
review all information and correct if necessary.
●
You must provide two adult references with different
United States addresses and your first reference should be a
parent (if living), legal guardian, or adult relative with whom you will always remain in contact.
All requested items must be complete including telephone
number or your loan(s) will be delayed.
●
Click on “Next Page” to
continue or “Save for Later” if you choose to complete your application at a later time.

The Review application
information will be displayed, please review your information before selecting “Submit Application.” Any
errors or missing information will delay your loan
payments (disbursements).
●
After
you select “Submit Application”, you will be given the
option of signing your MPN with an “Electronic
Signature.” Signing your MPN electronically eliminates
the need to print and mail the MPN and expedites the
disbursement process. Skip the next step if you will
not be signing electronically.
●
Select
“E-Sign” to submit your electronic signature after
reviewing and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of
the promissory note (MPN). Then select “Yes, I choose
to complete the e-signature process” and enter your last name, first name, and select “Next.” If you have
successfully completed your MPN on-line you will
see the message, “Thank you for applying on-line.”

Should
you choose not to sign electronically you may print the MPN by selecting “Yes” or select “No” to have the
guarantee agency (OGSLP) mail a MPN to you.
