MISS NORTHWESTERN TO PERFORM AT SEND-OFF PARTY

Community members are invited to attend a send-off party for Lauren Casteel, who will represent Northwestern Oklahoma State University in the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant as Miss Northwestern.

            Casteel will model her pageant wardrobe and perform her talent at the event that begins at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 26, in the Student Center Ballroom. Admission is free.

            Also appearing will be Kenzie Kraft of Burlington, Miss Northwestern’s Oklahoma Star. The Oklahoma Star program began last year to expose girls ages 6 through 11 to outstanding young Oklahoma women as mentors and role models.

            Casteel will compete in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant June 9-12 at the Tulsa Mabee Center on the Oral Roberts University campus. She will arrive on Sunday, June 6, to move into her dorm room. Her judges’ interview will be Wednesday morning, June 9, and swimsuit competition will be that night. Thursday night she will present her talent, a self-choreographed ballet routine, and Friday night is the evening wear portion of the contest.

            Ten finalists will be named Saturday and the new Miss Oklahoma will be crowned that night.

            Casteel’s critical issue platform is “Volunteerism Among Youth,” in which she advocates volunteerism as a remedy for negative societal trends. She hopes to lead youth to a mindset that will foster a desire to help others throughout their lives.
