NORTHWESTERN RODEO TEAM TO BE HOST FOR HIGH SCHOOL RODEO

For the first time in its history, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University rodeo team will play host to an Oklahoma High School Rodeo Association event on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 9, according to coach Tim Kolb.

Approximately 120 competitors are expected from across Oklahoma.

Events will begin with a cutting competition at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. “Slack” competition will begin at 2 p.m. with a performance at 7:30 p.m., with all events at the Woods County Fairgrounds. Since more competitors usually enter an event than can be accommodated during a performance, those entrants compete during the “slack.”

            Sunday’s schedule includes cowboy church at 9 a.m., slack competition at 10 a.m. and a performance at 2 p.m.

Tickets for performances are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

“We think this is an excellent opportunity to showcase Northwestern,” Kolb said, “especially since Nov. 8 is also Ranger Preview Day at the university. Rodeo competitors who are seniors will be encouraged to participate in Ranger Preview activities.”
