NORTHWESTERN ALUMNI ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY

            A busy day of activities are scheduled for Northwestern Oklahoma State University alumni returning to Alva for the annual Spring Reunion activities.

            The day begins with a golf tournament at 8 a.m. at the Alva Golf and Country Club. Interested persons should call the Alva Chamber of Commerce at (580) 327-1647 for reservations.

            From 2 to 5 p.m., the Northwestern Museum of Natural History and the one-room McKeever School will be open. The museum, located on the second floor of Jesse Dunn, has several new acquisitions now on display. McKeever School is located just north of the Struckle Education Center.

            Also at 2 p.m., the Friends of the Library will meet in J.W. Martin Library. The Northwestern Arts Society’s Art Show is on display in the library.

            Anyone interested in a tour of campus can meet in the food court of the Student Center at 3 p.m.

            At 3:30 p.m., members of the honored classes of 1935, 1945 and 1955 will be guests of President and Mrs. Paul Beran at a come-and-go reception in the president’s home.

            A bell-ringing ceremony to honor deceased alumni will be at 5 p.m. at the Alumni Bell Tower in front of Herod Hall.

            A pinning ceremony for 25, 50, 60 and 70-year graduates will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Ranger Room of the Student Center.

            At 6 p.m., the Special Awards Ceremony also will be held in the Ranger Room. Awards to be presented include the T.C. Carter, Dr. Joe Dollins, John Sheffield Teacher of the Year, Sabin and Pearl Percefull Scholarship, John Ted Meier Student Teacher, John F. Kennedy and the Thelma Crouch Staff Employee of the Year. The 2005 Outstanding Seniors also will be recognized.

            The Alumni Banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. The agenda includes remarks by the senior class president, an address by Dr. Beran and presentation of the Outstanding Graduate awards to Larry Sanchez, Janet Cordell, Duane Pierson and Bobbie Ramirez.

            A choral concert in Herod Hall Auditorium at 3 p.m., Sunday, will close the weekend.
