NWOSU ART SOCIETY TO SPONSOR ANNUAL ART SHOW

            The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) is sponsoring its second annual Art Show in the J.W. Martin Library, Thursday, April 21, through May 2. The Student Government Association is co-sponsoring the event.

            The best art work of Northwestern students and employees will be on display during normal library hours: 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1 to 10 p.m., Sunday. All art work will be new to the show this year.

            “We’ve had a lot more time to plan for this year’s event,” Helena Plett, NAS treasurer said. “It is going to make it easier having gained some experience from last year’s art show.”

            Many different types of art work can be entered into the show, ranging from oil and acrylic painting to photography to all types of woodwork and sculpture to quilts and other types of fiberwork.

“We are really excited about this year’s event,” Michelle Ross, NAS vice president, said. “All of us are looking forward to seeing what types of artwork will be entered this year.”

            Cash prizes will be awarded for the various divisions, categories and the Best of Show. Judging for these will take place at the beginning of the show. Awards will be distributed the first weekend of the event.

There also will be an award given to the People’s Choice based solely on the votes of viewers. These individuals will be asked to vote for their favorite piece of art during the first week of the show. The votes will be tabulated on April 28.
