SOPRANO EMMY IRVING TO PRESENT GRADUATE RECITAL 

            Soprano Emmy Irving of Mutual, a graduate student at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, will present a graduate recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, in Room 200 of the Fine Arts Building. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

            Irving, a student of Dr. Aija Shrader, assistant professor of music, will begin the recital with arias by Handel. A group of Schubert lieder and Ravel’s “Cinq melodies populaires grecques” will follow. The recital will end with a stage duet from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro with mezzo-soprano Esther Hougham.

            While at Northwestern, Irving has participated in the University Chorale, Concert Choir and University Singers and Jazz Band. She has performed in various Opera Workshop productions, as well as serving as stage manager.

            In addition to teaching private piano and singing lessons, she has performed in the annual Evening of Song performances, Swing Cabaret and NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) collegiate vocal competitions. She was Dr. Shrader’s assistant as auditions chair for the Texoma and Oklahoma NATS competitions this year.

            Irving is an active member of Phi Delta music society, serving as vice president, secretary/treasurer and choir historian. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church Choir and Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She also has been named as a Collegiate All-American and to the Chancellor’s List.

            She is the daughter of Rev. Clyde and Diana Irving and the granddaughter of Geraldine Williamson, all of Mutual.
