VALENCIA ELECTED STATE DIRECTOR OF PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION

            Steve Valencia, director of public relations at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, has been elected as the Oklahoma State Director for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

            Valencia was elected April 3 to a two-year term by Oklahoma CASE members at the organization’s District IV Annual Conference in Houston. District IV includes the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and New Mexico, and the country of Mexico. CASE has 29 member schools in Oklahoma. As state director, Valencia will serve on the District IV Board of Directors.

            At the conference, Valencia also was asked to serve on the program committee for the 2006 annual conference in New Orleans. He will manage the communications track of the conference, determining workshop topics and scheduling presenters.

            Headquartered in Washington, D.C., CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, and development.

            CASE's membership includes more than 3,000 colleges, universities, and independent elementary and secondary schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and 42 other countries. This makes CASE the largest nonprofit education association in terms of institutional membership with 38,000 advancement professionals on the staffs of member institutions.
