FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 11, 2007
NORTHWESTERN’S 110/100 CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE KICKING OFF OKLAHOMA FLAG PROJECT
During the 2007-08 school year, Northwestern Oklahoma State University proudly will be flying a number of Oklahoma flags on its Alva campus in recognition of the state's Centennial celebration and Northwestern's 110th anniversary.
Tentative plans are underway for a similar project on the Enid and Woodward campuses.
Individuals and/or businesses are welcome to sponsor State of Oklahoma flags for $50 each to be flown on the Northwestern campus. The flags, which will measure 3 foot by 5 foot, will be set out on poles on the lawn during special dates at the university, such as the first day of classes, the original first day of classes’ commemoration on Sept. 20, commencement exercises and other determined dates, so the flags will not be displayed every day.
When the celebration ends at Northwestern in May 2008, everyone who sponsored a flag will receive a flag that was displayed on campus.
Names of individuals/businesses sponsoring the flags will be listed in Centennial special events programs and other university publications throughout the school year.
The deadline for ordering a flag is Aug. 1. For this project to be effective, a minimum of 30 flags will need to be purchased.
For more information or to purchase a flag, contact Larry Justice, member of the 110/100 Promotions and Publicity Committee, at (580) 327-8411 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please visit www.nwosu.edu/110 to find a flyer and order form telling about the Oklahoma Flag Project.
