FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 28, 2007
NORTHWESTERN CENTENNIAL, STATUE MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE FOR GIFTS
Northwestern Oklahoma State University has a number of different items available to fulfill any Ranger’s gift wish list.
Besides the traditional Northwestern merchandise available in the university’s bookstores in Alva and Enid, there are special Centennial items developed to celebrate Northwestern’s 110th anniversary during Oklahoma’s Centennial year.
Available in the bookstores are t-shirts, sweatshirts, coffee mugs, notebooks and folders that all have the celebration’s special logo, which features the Ranger horse and rider.
If unable to visit either campus bookstore location, customers can go online to find t-shirts, sweatshirts, infant and kids apparel, keepsake ornaments, tote bags, caps, aprons, framed tiles, clocks, coasters, pillows, mousepads, coffee mugs and steins, postcards, greeting cards, calendars, magnets, buttons, dog t-shirts and yard signs. The Northwestern Art Society is making these items available as a fundraiser through www.cafepress.com/nwosu_110_100. The art society also is making "Ride with Pride" merchandise available at www.cafepress.com/nwridewithpride.
The Northwestern Foundation and Alumni Association also has available a special, limited edition throw depicting the special logo. It is a 100 percent cotton tapestry measuring 50 x 70 inches. It is machine washable, made in the United States and was designed by Angelia Case, 1984 Northwestern alumna and current instructional media center technician.
Cost for the throw is $50, and it is available in the association’s office on the west side of the Student Center in Alva. An additional $5 should be added to the cost for each throw to cover postage, if it needs to be mailed.
The Foundation and Alumni Association also is offering two items to commemorate the “The Ranger” statue. The art work of western artist and sculptor Harold “H” Holden of Kremlin can be owned in the form of a limited edition print of an original oil painting of “The Ranger,” or in a smaller version of the statue, called a maquette.
The color print measures 16 x 20 inches, costs $125 and only 1,500 are available. Each print will be signed by the artist and numbered. The first 110 prints are reserved for those who purchase the limited edition maquettes, of which only 110 are available. The smaller versions of the statue are cast in bronze and measure 13 inches in height. Each numbered maquette costs $2,500 with a $1,000 payment at the time of order and the remainder due upon delivery. Only $1,500 of the payment toward a statue is tax deductible.
All proceeds from the sale of prints and maquettes will go to the Alumni Association to benefit the university.
If interested in purchasing a throw or a limited edition print or statue, please contact the alumni office at (580) 327-8593 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Visa and MasterCard also are accepted. The office’s mailing address is 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717. Order forms for the throw and statue also are available online at www.nwosu.edu/110.
