FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                    July 21, 2008

Registration remains open for the Northwestern Creativity Project’s free digital Photography Workshop and Show Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1 and 2, at the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva.

“Picture My Weekend” is offered free of charge for participants at all digital photography skill levels and for varying types of digital cameras.

The event will kick off on Friday with a show of photographs taken by those attending Saturday’s workshop. A reception for photographers, as well as the public, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and the Max Ridgway Trio will provide music. Workshop participants may bring five framed photographs for the show and should make arrangements to have those items at the Runnymede prior to the opening.

Saturday’s workshop will be on the second floor and will include a number of roundtable sessions for photographers at all skill levels to become better at their craft or just to figure out how to use their camera better. The photography show will continue downstairs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be open to the public.

Workshop sessions will include Introduction to Digital Photography, Manual Camera Settings for Your Digital Camera, Basic Photo Editing/Photo Sharing, and tips and tricks sessions to help everyone try various ways to improve their photographic skills.

At 11 a.m. all participants will take part in “hands-on” learning by leaving the Runnymede for a Photo Scavenger Hunt on the downtown square. Upon their return, the participants’ best photos will be downloaded for a slide show later in the afternoon. Participants should bring their camera cables, docking stations, etc., if photos cannot be downloaded from a media card.

Lunch will be provided at noon so that participants can view the photos on display or learn more about matting and framing their photographs.

Mike Klemme of Enid, who was the official Oklahoma Centennial photographer, and Jim Richey of Alva are the special guests of the show and workshop.

Anyone planning to participate is asked to pre-register by filling out the form located on the workshop’s web site a
