August 20, 2007 top-ranked Oklahoma regional university National leader in lowest student debt Students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University walked to class for the first day of the fall semester today with a little greater sense of school pride after learning that their school was recognized nationally in the latest U.S. News and World Report college rankings. The magazine ranked Northwestern in the third tier of best baccalaureate colleges in the western region of the United States. Northwestern is the only Oklahoma public regional institution to achieve third tier ranking. Several other regional universities were ranked in the fourth tier of best master’s degree universities. The third tier ranking placed Northwestern in the top 20 to 28 of all baccalaureate colleges in the west. Read more... August 30, 2007 work for annual event Oct. 4-6 The Northwestern Oklahoma State University annual homecoming event has been scheduled for Oct. 4, 5 and 6, and the committee that organizes the celebration has already begun work. The theme is: Homecoming 007 – Northwestern and Oklahoma BOND Forever. August 22, 2007Billboard erected to honor NWOSU Outstanding Alumni Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation and Alumni Association have developed a billboard to publicize its outstanding alums. The billboard went up about a week ago on the west side of Interstate-35 about two miles south of the Kansas-Oklahoma border and can be read traveling southbound. August 29, 2007 Five Northwestern Oklahoma State University social work majors have been awarded Child Welfare Professional Enhancement Program (CWPEP) stipends. Tamera Guymon, Stephany Wilson, Shylah Ridgeway and Jo Lynne Vendetti, all of Enid, as well as Jeanetta Bussell of Alva, will receive $650 per month for the 2007-2008 academic year. All are seniors. August 20, 2007 Honor roll listings for the 2007 summer session at Northwestern Oklahoma State University include 142 students enrolled at the Alva, Enid and Woodward campuses. Of that number, 106 are on the President’s Honor Roll and 36 are on the Vice-President’s Honor Roll. All students—undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate—on the President’s list had all As (a 4.0 grade point average) in a minimum of seven hours of work. Anyone in need of student workers should contact the Career Services office as soon as possible, and please indicate whether the vacancies are Federal Work Study and/or E&G. Foundation Annual meeting Sept. 8 Bird said all members of the Foundation are invited to attend. A member is anyone who has donated at least $100 to the organization. On the agenda are the presentation of plaques to donors who have reached new levels of giving, an annual report and the election of new trustees and officers. Anyone with questions may contact the Foundation’s office at (580) 327-8593.
