July 10, 2008 Administrators from Northwestern Oklahoma State University recently enjoyed an eight day excursion to China for the signing of an educational exchange agreement with SIAS International University in Xinzheng City, Henan. This agreement opens doors for a multitude of educational opportunities. It includes development of a variety of exchange programs such as the exchange of faculty, students, academic information and materials. Read more...

10, 2008 Nearly 240 Oklahoma high school juniors and seniors and 35 staff members will be on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus next week for the BASIC Student Council Camp and Workshop. Staff members today began preparations for the campers, who arrive on Sunday, July 13, for the week-long camp that ends Friday, July 18. This marks the first time for the camp to take place in Alva. The Oklahoma Association of Student Council’s Board of Directors and Workshop Directors were looking for a change of venue and asked Northwestern to submit a bid, which the university eventually won. June 30, 2008 for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Northwestern Oklahoma State University has announced the promotion of Brad Franz to Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, according to Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president. Franz’s appointment was approved by the Board of Regents for the Regional University System of Oklahoma at its June meeting and becomes effective July 1. With the new change, the student affairs and enrollment management areas will now report directly to the president’s office. July
1, 2008 Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s “Creativity Project” committee is playing host to its first event Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1 and 2, at the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva. A free Photography Show and Workshop titled “Picture My Weekend” will take place for participants at all digital photography skill levels and for varying types of digital cameras. Special guests at the show and workshop are professional photographers Mike Klemme of Enid and Jim Richey of Alva. Read more...
July 8, 2008 The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation has changed the billboard to feature another outstanding alum, Dr. Jim Claflin. The billboard is on the west side of Interstate-35 about two miles south of the Kansas-Oklahoma border and can be read traveling southbound. Janet Valencia, Northwestern printing services coordinator, designed the billboard. Read more... June 24, 2008Alumni Association plans fan bus to Ranger football game in S.D. The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is taking reservations from Ranger football fans to ride a chartered bus to the Saturday, September 13, regular season football game against Black Hills State University in Spearfish, S.D. Alumni director Lizabeth Richey said that on Friday, September 12, the bus will begin loading on the east side of Ranger Field at 4:30 a.m. with departure from Alva scheduled for 5 a.m. The bus will arrive at Mount Rushmore around 6 p.m. for an hour of exploration at the national monument. We will arrive in Deadwood, S.D. around 8 p.m. and stay the night at the First Gold Gaming Hotel.
July 2, 2008 Ryan Hintergardt, sports information director for Northwestern Oklahoma State University, won two awards at the annual publication contests of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA). June 12, 2008 “Oklahoma Character, A Summer Institute for Oklahoma Teachers, Students and Interested Historians” will be offered July 14-17 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Enid campus. The workshop will meet each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Topics will include “Pre-History, Cherokee Outlet and Chisholm Trail,” “Land Run and Transportation,” “Early Enid History and Government” and “Territory and Statehood.” The intensive four-day course will be divided between classroom lectures, hands-on training and field trips. Lectures and re-enactments will be led by individuals from the Oklahoma Historical Society, Northwestern-Enid and the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma, as well as by regional historians, authors and local craftsmen. You Should Know The United States Department of Labor has increased the minimum wage to $6.55 per hour beginning July 24. The administration at Northwestern Oklahoma State University decided to begin the wage increase on July 1. Therefore, all work study, E&G and part-time employees need to be sure and turn in their time sheets for July using the new version of the time sheet with the wage increase. Hunt scored five touchdowns in the contest and was named Schutt Offensive Player of the Game for his efforts. Read More...
