August 7, 2008 Public relations specialists from across the state compete throughout the year for awards in a variety of competitions, and this year Valarie Case, a university relations specialist at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, received six awards for her creativity in writing and photography. You Should Know Letter to NWOSU and the Alva Community: The Oklahoma Association of Student Councils would like to thank the Administration of Northwestern Oklahoma State University for allowing us to hold our BASIC Student Council Workshop on their campus. Dr. Cunningham, Mr. Wallace, Mr. Franz, Mr. Pecha, Dr. Lohmann, and Mr. Valencia need to be commended, not only for their phenomenal hospitality, but also their genuine interest in our workshop. We definitely felt welcomed by everyone on the campus.
As Director of Facilities for the OASC workshops, the leadership and teamwork that this administration and staff exhibited was extraordinary and was very evident to the OASC staff. I was privileged to work with these people and believe that they need to be publicly praised for their efforts. NWOSU is fortunate to have this leadership team at the university. I would also like to say thank you to Ted Robinson and his staff at Chartwell’s for a week filled with outstanding food and excellent service. Our two Resident Advisors, Kellie Badley and Kasey Adair, were remarkable. I would also like to thank Marietta Washington and all of the custodial staff for all the behind-the-scenes work that they did and want you to know that we did notice. There are three other people that I believe need to be recognized also. Thank you to Valarie Case for the wonderful publicity, to Angelia Case for helping us with our AV needs, and to the Campus Police, especially Curtis Diel, for helping me with some issues and keeping us safe. Last but not least, the community of Alva was so friendly and embraced us with open arms. I am afraid that I may leave someone out because there were so many individuals and groups that made us feel welcomed and supported us. I do not want to offend anyone so please accept this appreciation of gratitude and thank you to the entire community. If it had not been for Karen Koehn sharing information about this wonderful university and community with the OASC, we never would have had this unique opportunity. I truly hope that this will be a relationship that lasts for a long time. Sincerely, _______________________________________________________
