August 22, 2008 regional university for second consecutive year For the second consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report has listed Northwestern Oklahoma State University as the top-ranked institution among the six schools that comprise the Regional University System of Oklahoma. The magazine also recognized Northwestern as one of five baccalaureate universities in the western United States where graduates have the least amount of student debt. Only 45 percent of graduates leave the institution with debt. Read more...
August 20, 2008 Calling all Ranger fans! Calling all Ranger fans! Northwestern Oklahoma State University welcomes the public and the Northwestern community to attend Ranger Rally ’08, a pep rally to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Ranger Field. This event will take place Wednesday night before the Rangers’ football team competes against long-time rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Aug. 28. The Lady Rangers’ soccer team begins its season at home on Aug. 30 against Hastings College (Neb.) at 7 p.m., at the Alva Recreation Complex. Read more...
August 14, 2008 The Alumni Association has scheduled a free tailgate party for Northwestern’s home and season opening football game against the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs. The tailgate will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28 on the second tier of Ranger Field in Alva.

August 8, 2008 To many people, the late Grace Wisdom was a successful professional in the banking industry and a community leader. Few people outside of her family knew one of her greatest passions – a love for the visual arts. “We all have interests that provide balance in our lives,” said her daughter, Dr. Peggy Wisdom. “She had a passion for art.” Read more...
August 11, 2008 Giving back to his alma mater just seemed like the right thing to do for Eldon Mitchell, a 1968 graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Mitchell’s $50,000 donation will be used to furnish a science lab in the newly renovated Science Building, which should open in October. Read more... August 20, 2008 Honor roll listings for the 2008 summer session at Northwestern Oklahoma State University include 143 students enrolled at the Alva, Enid and Woodward campuses. Of that number, 103 are on the President’s Honor Roll and 40 are on the Vice-President’s Honor Roll. All students—undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate—on the President’s list had all As (a 4.0 grade point average) in a minimum of seven hours of work. August 19, 2008 Dr. James Therrell, assistant professor of education for Northwestern Oklahoma State University, recently helped design, organize and officially inspect the construction of a new playground for Roosevelt Elementary in Ponca City. June 12, 2008 from Oklahoma Board of Nursing The Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing program was awarded a full five-year approval by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) after a meeting at the end of May. One of OBN’s functions is to prescribe standards for and provide approval of nursing education programs throughout the state. All nursing programs must be approved in order to enroll and graduate students and five years is the maximum term possible. Read more...
August 11, 2008 Displayed with more than 165 photographs for the weekend, the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva was the perfect location for the Northwestern Creativity Project to play host to 58 participants in its first “Picture My Weekend” event on Aug. 1 and 2. Participants arrived from many different Oklahoma cities including: Alva, Aline, Buffalo, Cherokee, Dacoma, Enid, Guthrie, Helena, Isabella, Jet, Kingfisher, Medford, Mooreland, Oklahoma City, Vici, Waynoka, and Woodward to participate in the event. You Should Know Alumni bus trip to South Dakota canceled The Alumni Association fan bus trip scheduled to watch the Rangers take on Black Hills State University in South Dakota Sept. 12-15 has been canceled. The Alumni Association was not able to sell enough seats to make the trip happen.
